Shape and Form: Sign of the Times

My goal was to use Shape and form to express a social commentary. I Believe that I achieved what I set out to do. I wanted to show the similarities between how Jews were treated in Europe just prior to the Holocaust, and the way Muslims are being treated currently in both Europe and in the United States. I found and Image of an old Jewish woman with the Star of David patch, who was also wearing a head scarf, which I thought was perfect sense to me since a majority of Muslim women also wear head scarves.

Project 1: Line, rhythm directional pull: John Carter

Project 1

I plan to use line, rhythm and directional pull in the context of a seen from "The Princess of mars" from the "John Carter of mars" book series I have included  a couple of preliminary drawing.

Above is the Completed painting of "John Carter: Battle on Mars." It hadn't come out as I imagined it.They never do. I did Incorporate line rythm and directional pull. For the moon I brushed on some modeling paste and btushed it in swirls. Painted over modeling paste tryng to help the swirls really stand out. In the future I may ppossible turn it into a series. I am very fond of the John Carter of  Mars book series.
